About the role

As an Ambulette Driver with Donald Martens & Sons Ambulance Service, you will be responsible for providing safe, professional, and compassionate wheelchair transport services to patients in need of non-emergency medical transportation. Working under the direction of the supervisor, you will ensure timely and comfortable transport, offering constant care and assistance as required. Your role is essential in helping patients access medical appointments, treatments, and other healthcare services with dignity and respect.


What You’ll Do:

  • Provide safe and efficient ambulette transportation for patients using wheelchairs.

  • Assist patients with boarding, exiting, and securing wheelchairs for transport.

  • Ensure that patients are properly secured and comfortable throughout the trip.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of gloves, PPE, and securing equipment as needed.

  • Maintain accurate trip logs and documentation for compliance and billing purposes.

  • Perform routine vehicle checks to ensure the ambulette is clean, stocked, and in good working condition.

  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth transport operations.


What You’ll Need:

  • CPR and First Aid certification (required).

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to safely maneuver and secure wheelchairs, including up and down stairs if necessary.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
