About the role
As a Call In-Take Representative at Donald Martens & Sons Ambulance Service, you will be the first point of contact for incoming emergency and non-emergency medical transport requests. Your role is essential in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate transportationby accurately scheduling transports, verifying key information, and maintaining clear communication with dispatchers. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
Answer and process emergency and non-emergency transport requests from hospitals, nursing homes, and the public.
Accept incoming calls from providers, customers, and patients, ensuring professionalism and efficiency.
Accurately schedule transports in the Right CAD system, determining the appropriate level of service (BLS, ALS, SCT, or wheelchair).
Enter, update, and retrieve patient demographics, insurance information, and transport details in the billing system.
Process transport requests and necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatchers, ensuring smooth coordination of transport services.
Follow up on inquiry calls to schedule or reschedule potential transports as needed.
Log and document all canceled transports, notifying the supervisor or manager as required.
Work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, promoting a positive work environment.
What You’ll Need:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience as an EMT or Paramedic preferred.
Certification in Coding and Billing preferred.
Understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is a plus.
Ability to accurately type at least 35 words per minute.
Strong ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and handle high call volumes in a fast-paced setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
