About the role
As an IT Support Technician with Donald Martens & Sons Ambulance Service, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting the technology systems that keep our operations running smoothly. This role plays a critical behind-the-scenes part in public safety, ensuring our computers, networks, and communication systems function reliably across all corporate and field locations.
Working independently and in collaboration with leadership and staff, you will provide hands-on hardware repair, Tier I and Tier II technical support, network installation, and field service support. Your work ensures that our EMS teams and administrative staff have the technology tools they need to deliver exceptional service to our communities.
What You’ll Do:
Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support to employees across multiple locations, resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows operating systems and third-party software applications.
Perform component-level hardware repair and replacement, including hard drives, disk arrays, and system peripherals.
Plan, coordinate, and install microcomputers and network equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless systems.
Install, terminate, and troubleshoot Cat 6 cabling and network infrastructure.
Conduct scheduled maintenance, system diagnostics, and backup verification to ensure operational continuity.
Maintain accurate repair logs, parts inventory, and documentation for tracking and compliance.
Assist users with system setup, troubleshooting, and proper equipment usage.
Prepare labor and material estimates for repairs and equipment installations.
Support and maintain additional electronic equipment such as two-way radios, projectors, televisions, and video equipment.
Ensure safe work practices while performing field and on-site technical support.
Provide guidance and training to staff as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
What You Need:
At least two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair of microcomputers, peripheral equipment, and electronic systems.
Experience providing Tier I IT support in a professional environment.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Experience installing and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, servers, and networking equipment.
Understanding of AC, DC, and digital electronic theory.
Familiarity with routers, switches, wireless networks, and structured cabling standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturer documentation.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and travel to corporate locations as needed.
Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain vehicle insurance qualification.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to lift and move equipment as required, including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs and occasional lifting over 100 lbs.
Previous experience preferred, but not required.
