Ron Brazzell
Ambulette, Brooklyn
Before EMS, Ron was a hardworking guy juggling responsibilities and looking for something more. He spent years working at the airport, content in the day-to-day but quietly carrying the memory of an old dream—to become an EMT or paramedic. Back when he was younger, he had taken some college classes for it, but life got in the way, and he admits, “I never took it serious.” Fast forward a few years, and that spark reignited. A longtime friend who had transitioned into EMS reached out, sharing how much he loved the job. It took some time, but eventually, Ron made the call, scheduled an interview, and just like that—he was in. After taking classes at Premier, getting CPR certified, and finishing his training, Ron found himself stepping into the field he always felt pulled toward.
Now a seasoned ambulette driver with two and a half years under his belt, Ron has become a familiar face for many of his regular patients—some of whom may not remember his name, but always recognize his presence. It's the kind of consistency and warmth he brings to every ride. He’s known around the company as someone who's approachable, grounded, and deeply people-oriented. “I’m a people person,” he says. “I love to conversate with people.” Whether it’s mentoring a new recruit or just offering a smile on the road, Ron is a firm believer in connection. He goes out of his way to make sure rookies feel supported, training them with patience and care: “I’m not gonna yell at you. I’ll just show you a better way to do it.” His teaching style is calm and steady—just like him. Ron’s philosophy is simple: make people feel comfortable, take the time to do things right, and never stop learning.
Off the clock, Ron is just as active—maybe even more. When he’s not catching a quick nap after a shift, he’s either hitting the gym or on the court playing basketball. One of his biggest passions is training his 14-year-old son, who plays for Garfield Heights Middle School. For Ron, it’s not just about passing on skills—it’s about bonding, building confidence, and helping his son grow into his own. “I’m trying to incorporate a little bit of me in him, but still let him be himself.” That balance is everything to Ron—between work and family, past and future, effort and ease. Music also fuels his days, with a playlist that jumps from Jay-Z to jazz, gospel, and even classical. Ask him how he’d deck out his dream truck? Bigger tires, dimmable lights, and a sound system that bumps. But at the heart of it all, Ron’s defining trait is his quiet resilience. “I never quit. I never give up,” he says. “Even if I can’t solve the problem at that moment, I’ll find a way.” That grit, paired with his laid-back vibe, makes Ron more than just a teammate—he’s someone people trust, someone who shows up, and someone who never stops pushing forward.
